How to use Golden Ratio colors

I really enjoy collecting colour palettes and start by getting inspired by one specific colour. Usually this is a lighter or brighter color.

For example, you can choose a color that you feel good about. From there, you can search for fitting partner colours guided by the basics of colour theory like complementary or analogous colors.

Use the color circle

If you are not experienced or familiar with color theory, a color circle is a good place to start. A color circle helps you understand how colors opposite each other, like blue and orange, or next to each other, like blue, green and yellow, work together and interact with other colors in your scheme.

What you put next to a color is as important as the color choice itself: light yellow looks very different next to dark red than light orange.
